Pikes Peak Library District Selects the PrimeArray ServStation For Sharing CD/DVD Content

Pikes Peak Library District Selects the PrimeArray ServStation For Sharing CD/DVD Content Library patrons have reliable, streamlined access to CD- and DVD-based information when and where they need it. September 8, 2009 Framingham, MA —Libraries distribute not just books, but digitized content on tapes, CDs, and DVDs. And today’s library patrons expect fast, easy, online access to that information. In the past library patrons had to check out the physical CD or DVD from the library desk, and then put it into an available PC to run it. If that PC’s CD/DVD drive was malfunctioning, the user had to find another PC. “Our biggest concern is to make the patrons have a better experience and get what they’re looking for easily,” says Carolyn Coulter IT Officer for Pike’s Peak Library District. Now, all the CD/DVD content is pre-loaded onto the PrimeArray ServStation. An exact image of the disc is stored on the ServStation’s hard drive and multiple users can access the same disc image simultaneously. Once a disc is copied to the ServStation it can be put away in a safe place. It’s a seamless experience for patrons, who simply find all the information they need online. One of the biggest headaches for a library, or any other institution that manages large numbers of CD/ DVDs, is license management. This is a PrimeArray feature that Coulter especially appreciates: “A lot of the CDs include two or three licenses, which means that you can only have that number of people accessing them at the same time. The system monitors that. If a fourth person tries to access the information, they’re notified that it’s not available at the present time and to try back later. We don’t violate any of our licensing agreements and it’s much easier to manage.” PrimeArray CEO John Gallagher summarized: “The ServStation is a tremendous system for storing and sharing CD and DVD content. And it’s not just the big public libraries that use our systems. For example, many school libraries, law libraries and medical libraries use the PrimeArray ServStation for sharing information. It saves time, money, and lots of headaches for any organization that needs to share information.” Details of the ServStation can be found on the company’s website: http://www.primearray.com/products/servstation/ About Pikes Peak Library District The Pike’s Peak library district serves the entire county of El Paso, Colorado. With over half a million people in its district and over 255,000 active library card holders, it’s one of the busiest library districts in the country. The district includes 12 branches, with one more under construction. The library was recognized by the prestigious Hennan’s American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR), as 9th out of 77 library systems in its size category. The Maxtet – The Simplest Way to Share and Load CD/DVDs

PrimeArray Systems, Inc. Releases the Maxtet – The Simplest Way to Share and Load CD/DVDs Load up to 12 CD/DVDs simultaneously and / or Provide Direct Data Access to Your End Users. August 10, 2009 Framingham, MA — The PrimeArray Maxtet is the simplest way to load and/or share CD/DVDs into a server, staging area or individual workstation. According to Paul Brassil, PrimeArray’s president, “CD/DVD loaders save you time and money by simplifying the management of your CD/DVDs.” The Maxtet XT is more than 10X faster than its predecessor – and the most highly efficient way to load CD/DVDs into a server or individual workstation. PrimeArray’s customers have used the Maxtet towers for quality assurance testing of software discs, loading multiple discs into a server or staging area, providing direct access to CDs or DVDs, or making multiple discs available to a server application. Brassil emphasizes that “If you have discs to share or CD/DVD data to load onto your server then you should definitely take a look at the Maxtet.” The Maxtet can incorporate Blu-ray drives, which means one device can handle all your discs. For database uploading applications, you can load up to twelve discs at a time rather than loading one at a time. There is no easier way to share a few CDs and DVDs. You can simply connect the Maxtet to your computer or server via a SCSI adapter and cable. Each optical drive appears as a drive letter on the workstation to which it is attached. Upgrading a certain disc is as simple as replacing the disc in the drive. Some discs that are copy-protected cannot be loaded into a hard-disk caching CD/DVD server. The Maxtet makes it easier to share such discs because it does not require hard disk caching. Any workstation that can access the server and is allowed to view the Maxtet can access data contained on the discs. Both PCs and Macs can access the discs over a variety of network configurations. PrimeArray’s systems are competitively priced and deliver great value. Brassil states, “Every system is configured to meet the customer’s requirements. Your system can contain as few as 4 and up to 12 CD/DVD drives.” The Maxtet family of CD/DVD Servers and Loaders are available for purchase directly from PrimeArray as well as through select domestic and international resellers. Details of the products can be found on the company’s website: http://www.primearray.com/products/maxtet/ About PrimeArray PrimeArray Systems, Inc. is a privately held corporation based in Framingham, MA. Combine NAS and CD/DVD Servers to Manage Your Company’s Data Storage Needs

Combine NAS and CD/DVD Servers to Manage Your Company’s Data Storage Needs PrimeArray today announced the NetServ line of direct network attached servers that provides two essential services for any IT organization, hosting CDs or DVDs and providing additional network storage space for backups, archives, or other data storage needs. October 27, 2006 Chelmsford, MA — IT Managers are continually faced with the need for exponentially increasing amounts of data storage. It is difficult to get old, unused data off production servers. Thus, storage arrays directly attached to servers are reaching capacity requiring expensive new servers. IT Managers are also tasked with protecting data assets and planning for speedy and thorough recovery in the event of minor or catastrophic disasters. This generally entails frequent onsite backups of all data along with regular offsite backups. Another issue facing numerous departments around the organization is getting network-wide access to CD and DVD-based content, such as MSDN or Technet subscriptions, software discs, computer-based training, payroll records, manuals or regulation updates. The trick for the IT Manager is to address all these issues within a tight budget. In response, PrimeArray today announced the NetServ line of direct network attached servers that provides two essential services for any IT organization, hosting CDs or DVDs and providing additional network storage space for backups, archives, or other data storage needs. Starting at $3,995, the NetServ delivers excellent value for a sophisticated network storage system. The PrimeArray NetServ line of direct network attached storage products can address all these issues in an affordable and scalable solution. These systems can store data files, CD/DVD image files and can automate the migration of data to DVD archives. They have been designed with a broad array of back-up and recovery options including enterprise, removable disk, DVD, tape, or offsite mirroring. The NetServ system is a complete solution, ready to install on your network. Direct network attachment means it is easy to get on the network and doesn’t place a burden on other servers. It also means any resource can access it. The plummeting cost of hard disk storage means that in many situations, disk storage for backups and archives has become competitive with tape in terms of cost. Moreover, hard disk storage far surpasses tape when it comes to speed, reliability, capacity and recovery. The NetServ supports NDMP and products like Veritas Backup Exec, so it will fit into Enterprise-wide backup schemes. It also comes with its own sophisticated data replication utility, called SmartSync, which can backup, mirror or distribute data to other volumes or to remote PrimeArray systems for hands-free and network-friendly backup and recovery. SmartSync uses differential block-level transfer to transmit only data that has changed, yet builds a complete backup on the remote system. CD/DVD Servers have virtually replaced data jukeboxes and towers for sharing CD and DVD-based content. Using software and hard disk caching of an exact ISO image of the disc, these servers allow multiple users to simultaneously access any data with lightning speed. The systems are easy to setup, easy to manage, easy to use and priced far less than a jukebox and no more lost or damaged discs. Capacities range from a handful of discs up to thousands. Aside from the benefit of having one system to solve two problems (easier to manage, less space, less costly), combining a NAS and a CD/DVD Server delivers the ability to archive data to DVD. You can easily set up a data migration scheme, using built in tools, to move older data to read-only online DVD images and burn off a copy for offsite storage. Dual-layer DVDs can hold over 8 GB of data, yet are inexpensive, and long lasting relative to other backup options like tape. The NetServ line offers the ultimate in scalability. Using hot expansion, a single unit can be expanded up to 4 terabytes of RAID 5 protected storage. Using a utility we call SmartExtend, up to eleven systems can be logically connected to form a single IP storage system. Add storage when you need it without impacting existing systems, up to 44 TB of useable space. Combining a robust NAS system with a latest technology CD/DVD server puts all your digital assets online, in one place where people can access them whenever and wherever they need. The NetServ and ServStation systems provide easy to use, versatile and affordable storage that will grow as your needs grow.
